Haha, time to dig up those mothballed Bagets outfits
Who can forget the bouncy beat of “Just Got Lucky,” though the band JoBoxers has “The 40 Year Old Virgin” to thank for making their name known again.

This hilarious clip from the old World Wrestling Federation (now called World Wrestling Entertainment) features Cyndi Lauper as a guest on the infamous “Piper’s Pit.”
Cyndi with “Rowdy” Roddy Piper and “Captain” Lou Albano? Now that’s a classic!
I watched this heavyweight championship bout at the UP College of Fine Arts back when it was still located in the Main Library building.
A lot of students had congregated in front of the TV, and we waited patiently to see this much anticipated showdown between Iron Mike Tyson and Michael Spinks for the undisputed heavyweight title.
This was Tyson in his prime — undefeated and the baddest man on the planet at age 21.
Here’s my first contribution. I love guitar and I love Jimi Hendrix on guitar. Here’s one classic (incomplete) video of Hendrix performing the “Star-Spangled Banner” live in Woodstock.
Here’s another one.
To me, Steffi Graf is the greatest female tennis player.
Her record speaks for itself, not least of all the Golden Slam she achieved in 1988 by winning all four Grand Slam (Australian Open, French Open, Wimbledon and US Open) singles titles and the Olympic gold medal.
Check out the famous on-court “marriage proposal” and Steffi’s hilarious “snappy answer to a stupid question”
If you love Jim Henson’s muppets, you probably know “Mahna Mahna” quite well. Well, actually, it was a pop music hit before the Muppets used it, but to me it will always be a Muppets song, heh
Back in high school, our buddy Neil Tan had a cassette tape of that “The Muppet Show” album that compiled some of their most popular song numbers. “Mahna Mahna” was our favorite, of course.
Here are two images from Mel Dominguez of PR firm Dominguez Marketing, who was a commercial model in the 80s and early 90s.

That’s Mel on the cover of the short-lived women’s magazine She. This was back in 1983, and the magazine’s cover price was P2.50! Yup, a magazine for two pesos and fifty centavos. Can you believe that?
I just uploaded my Strawberry Switchblade Video On Youtube, singing one of their most famous hits “Since Yesterday.” Strawberry Switchblade is a UK two-girl band that started in the early 80s, and whose songs reverberated all the way throughout high school and college in the 90s.
I have two of their albums in vinyl (hopefully still ok in a box under the stairs), and hundreds of memories listening to them along with many other artists of that era with my friends.
Here it is:
“Video Killed the Radio Star” by The Buggles proved to be prophetic, and it’s quite appropriate that it was the first video played on MTV when it debuted on August 1, 1981 (the song itself was first released in 1979).
Truly, it was the end of an era.
What’s interesting to note is that in 2000, the parody “Internet Killed the Video Star” from eStudio (by “The Broad Band,” LOL) was released.
