One of the greatest songs and music videos of the 80s was the 1984 hit “Obsession” by the band Animotion.
I may be biased, but I think that despite the cheesiness of many 80s videos, this era still produced the best and most creative ones. Sure, today’s videos have the edge when it comes to production values, but a lot of them are really, I dunno, by-the-numbers. Then again, this was MTV back when it was cutting-edge, before “alternative” became the new mainstream.
The hot babe in the video, by the way, is band member Astrid Plane. My college buddy Raffy Lirag and I would always cite this music video as one of our favorites whenever we reminisced about the 80s, and of course we’d always try to remember the girl’s name, heh. Thank God for the Internet.
